If anyone can resolve Kashmir issue, it is Modi: Mehbooba

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi alone can help the people of the state in the ongoing troubling circumstances. "I am saying it again and I may be criticised for it but if there is someone, who could find solution to the problem of Jammu and Kashmir, it is Shri Narendra Modi ji and none else", said Mehbooba Mufti as reported by Hindustan Times. "He (PM) has a strong mandate".

Complimenting the people of Jammu for maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood despite "provocation", the chief minister said nobody will be allowed to disturb the peaceful atmosphere, and mischief-mongers will be dealt with sternly.

Speaking at the inauguration of a much-awaited flyover in Jammu, the chief minister said, "If anyone can take us out of this quagmire then it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi". She said PM Modi's Lahore visit was sign of courage and not weakness.

He also blamed Prime Minister Modi for the severe hit taken by the tourism sector in the Valley in the wake of the unrest.

Trump's stated spending priority was the military, but the budget reflects only half of what he had requested at $15 billion. Trump abruptly halted an interview with CBS News after being pressed on his wiretapping allegations against Barack Obama .

Mehbooba said how Modi's predecessor Manmohan Singh, who was PM for 10 years, also may have had a desire to see his birth home in Pakistan.

"Whosoever takes law in own hands would be dealt with appropriately and cautioned people against nefarious designs of some negative elements who want to derail the developmental process in the province by creating an atmosphere of hate", she said.

"They tried their best to bring out Kashmir out of this unfortunate situation. He was successful to a large extent in shortest of period", Mehbooba said.

He said that Mufti's declaration of Modi being Kashmir's "only hope" was ironic and ridiculous in the backdrop of the Advocate General of India's statement in the Supreme Court ruling out any possibility of talks with various stakeholders in Kashmir including the separatists. "But unfortunately my father was out of the government and Vajpayeeji left, and the process came to grinding halt", she said. Blaming the then UPA government at the Centre and the state government for not carrying forward the dialogue, she said, "There was pent-up lava and it started to come out during the street protests in 2008, 2009 and 2010".
