Champions Trophy: India team selection on May 8

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been told by the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to get a mandate from its members and thereby empower its acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary to negotiate the financial terms with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

In the wake of the International Cricket Council (ICC) proposing a new financial model which reduces the BCCI's revenues from Dollars 570 million to USD 293 million, the latter had deliberately missed the April 25 deadline for submission of the squad.

It ran, more definitively, in September 2016 when the BCCI was miffed that it had been excluded from a meeting of the ICC finance committee in Dubai. "The All-India Senior Selection Meeting will be held tomorrow, May 8, in New Delhi to pick the team", the BCCI added.

The option to boycott the event by revoking the Members Participation Agreement (MPA) between the ICC and the BCCI had been gaining traction within the board prior to Sunday's meeting despite a number of former players opposing any withdrawal. Kumble, reportedly wrote the letter ahead of much anticipated Special General Meeting, which will more-or-less decide whether the defending champions will participate in the tournament or not.

The Supreme Court of India had rendered N Srinivasan ineligible to attend ICC meeting as BCCI representative.

Aaron Sanchez last just one inning after return from DL
Tepera had a career-high five strikeouts and left with one out in the fifth to a standing ovation from the crowd of 42,986. Dominic Leone took over with one out in the seventh and allowed one hit and had a strikeout in two-thirds of an inning.

Even though Srinivasan was earlier keen on a pullout, he refrained from speaking about it after gauging the general mood. The CoA had pointed out to the BCCI that ICC chairman Shashank Manohar "has made an offer of a $100 million more" to the Indian board, and sending the ICC a legal notice at that point would have jeopardised negotiations at a "delicate and critical stage".

BCCI had rejected an additional United States dollars 100 million offer from ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar, refusing to accept the new revenue model. The Associate Members will receive a funding of 280 million dollars.

"Team India should be provided with a supportive environment to showcase Indian cricket instead of being surrounded with uncertainty and confusion". We will not take any legal recourse in the matter.

The COA had advised BCCI members to exercise discretion while taking any extreme step.
