It is time to wave Goodbye to Windows Vista

The long development cycle between the release of Windows XP and Vista is because, at the early stages of development, Microsoft lost focus on what features were going to be included in Longhorn and what features would be saved for Blackcomb. Over 10 years down the line, the tech-giant has finally made a decision to scrap off its what many described as the "disastrous" operating system. Well, Vista users can opt to continue to use an increasingly unsafe operating system, or they can upgrade their PC to a newer Microsoft OS. With Microsoft withdrawing the extended support for the operating system, any vulnerability that comes to light won't ever be patched.

Some estimates put Windows Vista's current market-share among all PC OSes at less than one percent. However, over time Microsoft's developers lost a track of their vision and the company finally launched Windows Vista in 2007, almost six years after it launched one of its most popular operating systems- Windows XP. Will your PC suddenly keel over and stop working, now that Windows Vista is no longer getting updated?

Windows Vista was released worldwide in January 2007 to a world that had yet to really embrace smartphones, and the Apple iPhone was just a rumour without a name. When Windows 7 arrived in mid-2009, it immediately gained popularity and appeared to be what Vista should have been.

The new user interface that came with the system was Aero, which gave Vista a new look that was nearly surreal.

To find out if you're still using Windows Vista, open your "Start" menu, and type "winver" into the search box.

Nomura says will short French bonds on Melenchon/Le Pen run-off
Macron said Monday: "It's the true face of the French far right, the face that I am fighting". In the runoff set for May 7, Macron, 39, would win handily if the election were held today.

Another issue was that Windows XP-the previous version of Windows-worked well, so many users chose to stick with it way beyond its expiration date.

Microsoft is ending support for Windows Vista Tuesday, marking the end of updates, free or paid support or updates to online technical content, according to Microsoft.

But for many Vista users running a now stable operating system on a decent PC, their choice is not as clear cut. Microsoft wants its users to purchase the latest OS, Windows 10.

Overall, Windows 10 offers the best solution to carry on with your computing in the best possible manner, something that will never be possible with Vista from here onwards.

However experts are warning that many Vista-era PCs may not have the necessary specs to run a newer Microsoft OS.
