Hillary Clinton Pulls No Punches in Georgetown University Speech

Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa. The access was ostensibly granted to facilitate work on Clinton's memoir, but Grassley said he was only able to verify it after the Obama administration left the White House.

Hillary Clinton on Friday knocked President Trump's proposed budget cuts to foreign aid, saying they would threaten the safety and security of the US. During her speech, Clinton also cited a February letter from more than 120 retired generals and admirals urging Congress to block Trump's State Department and USAID cuts, saying they save the US from spending military dollars on wars. "It will undermine our security and our standing in our world".

Clinton is scheduled to publish a new book of personal essays later this year that are inspired by quotations she's been drawn to over the years.

She first made a splash in worldwide affairs even earlier, with her famous 1995 speech in Beijing declaring "women's rights are human rights", earning the then-first lady global headlines. That's not just because of lackadaisical information handling but because State seems to be ground zero for what Trump officials have come to call the "Deep State": a collection of Obama-era hires that haven't been booted from their positions who are reportedly trying to cause headaches for the Republican president.

She expressed outrage at the photo that went viral on Twitter showing not a single woman represented at the White House meeting where Vice President Mike Pence strategized how to cut women's care as part of their failed plan to salvage the Obamacare repeal.

Clinton garnered some of the most enthusiastic applause from the university students in attendance when she took a subtle jab at her former presidential rival.

On Friday, Clinton's speech honoring women involved in forging Colombia's 2016 peace agreement with FARC guerillas was laced with arguments for why the United States should remain at the forefront of women's rights.

Now, before anybody jumps to any conclusions, I will state, clearly, women are not inherently more peaceful than men. And it shouldn't be "a partisan issue", she added. "A rising tide of women's rights lifts entire nations".

She also mocked the phrase of a Trump advisor when she said stereotypes about women "belongs to the alternative reality".

After delivering facts proving that women are just as competent, if not better, than men in securing peace negotiations with other countries, Clinton couldn't help herself as she deftly ridiculed Donald Trump for his propensity towards fact-denial.

Echoing her sassy roast at the annual Al Smith Gala past year, Clinton also made a few snarkier comments about the current political climate. "Here I go again talking about research, evidence and facts", she said with a laugh, and the crowd went wild before she continued with the research findings.
