One person was killed and two others were airlifted to the hospital after, police said, shots rang out at the Village of Merrick Park shopping center in Coral Gables, Saturday afternoon.

Shed Boren, a member of Equinox, said his trainer told him the incident involved a disgruntled trainer: "I had just left Equinox, " he said.

About an hour after the shooting, a few people wearing workout attire stood outside the gym. "There was a dance class of 40 people if he wanted to do that".

He wounded Janine Ackerman, 35, the gym's general manager and Mario Hortis, 42, a fitness manager, witnesses said.

Zabaleta says the location of the shooting was along South Lejeune Road at an address that appears at or near the Shops of Merrick Park, an upscale shopping mall.

"I saw an African American guy, very tall, with a black shirt and black shorts", she said.

Equinox said in a statement that is was working with authorities. "People rushed inside. People were hiding under tables", he said.
