The organization says that the majority of these cases are preventable with vaccination.
Every year, 14 million new infections occur among teens and adults.
"It's kind of wonderful that we have a tool - a vaccine - that can prevent cancer", said Korn.
Specifically, the report found that 45.2 percent of men and 39.9 percent of women aged 18 to 69 were infected with any kind of HPV in 2013-2014.
Most people with HPV never develop symptoms or health problems.
In fact, nearly every sexually active man or woman will get it during their lifetime. It spreads through vaginal, anal or oral sex with someone who has the virus. This is because some papillomavirus strains could lead to certain types of cancer or genital warts. There are approximately 39,000 HPV-related cancers every year, almost two-thirds of them in women. According to other studies, these strains cause roughly 31,000 cases of cancer each year.
Cancer charity Macmillan's head in Scotland Janice Preston said: "The impact of the immunisation programme is astounding. Other types are considered high risk, causing cancer in different areas of the body including the cervix and vagina in women, penis in men, and anus and oropharynx (mouth and throat) in both men and women".
Odisha in focus as BJP kicks off major party meet
The Uttar Pradesh win broke that myth, Shah said, adding that the victory clearly proved that people are firmly with the BJP. The Prime Minister was received at the Biju Patnaik International Airport by the Chief Secretary and DGP of the state.
Epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control, Geraldine McQuillan, and lead author of the new report said: "If we can get 11- and 12-year-olds to get the vaccine, we'll make some progress".
'People really need to realize that this is a serious concern'. Since anyone who is sexually active can get HPV, and since it is so common, researchers want you to know that you should be taking HPV seriously.
Both boys and girls are supposed to get two or three doses of the vaccine, starting at age 11 or 12.
The new rules came after years of campaigns from cancer experts insisting an easier schedule would encourage more people to protect themselves from the sexually-transmitted infection. The program is newer for boys, however, and we expect this rate to increase over time. Though recent numbers have shown high HPV rates, vaccinating adolescents has been the proven way to bring these totals down.
The CDC estimates that HPV vaccination could eventually prevent about 90 percent - or 28,000 - of the annual causes of HPV-related cancers in the United States. "This vaccine should have been introduced as a vaccine that will prevent cancer, not sexually transmitted infections".
This work, funded by the Scottish Government, is part of public health work in Scotland looking at the effect of the vaccine on levels of cervical lesions and cancer-related cell abnormalities. Oral HPV in men accounted for more than twice the number of infections in women.
If the results proved turned out positive, women would be able to protect themselves and their sexual partners against potentially deadly HPV infection through the simple application of an affordable, over-the-counter product.
