The 2010 Winter Olympics or the 21st Winter Olympics will open today February 12, 2010. This major multi-sport event will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. PyeongChang, South Korea was beaten in the bidding when two members who voted for Salzburg voted for Vancouver in the run-off.
This year will be the first ever Winter Olympics to have an Opening Ceremony held indoors. The 2010 Winter Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremony will be held BC Place Stadium which is first domed arena in Canada and the largest air-supported stadium in the world.
The XX Olympic Winter Games was officially opened by the 10th president of Italian republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. This year current Governor General of Canada, Michaelle Jean, will officially open the 2010 Winter Olympics.
