Sixty-five schools were selected to play for the 2010 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament in a sudden death tournament which will start on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Second round of tournament is scheduled on Thursday through Sunday, March 18-21, 2010. Regionals games will be played on Thursday through Sunday, March 25-28, 2010. The Final Four is scheduled on Saturday and Monday, April 3 and 5, 2010.

There are some major changes in the rule that was implemented this season like the expanded use of replay to determine flagrant fouls, replacement shooter for injured player who will not be able to take his own foul shots, secondary defenders must now establish their position outside of the zone between the backboard and the front of the rim to draw a charge, and there is already an approved legislation that shortens the time players have to withdraw from the NBA draft, moving the date to May rather than June.
