Miss America 2009, Katie Stam from Indiana, crowned her successor, Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron, at the Theatre for the Performing Arts in Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Fifty-three contestants competed for this prestigious title and Cameron is the luckiest one to win a $50,000 scholarship.
Cameron is a 22 year old native of Fredericksburg. She stands 5 foot and 4 inches tall. She graduated from Massaponax High School and currently attends Virginia Commonwealth University.
Cameron sang “Dreamgirls” ballad “Listen,” which earned her the “Miss Talent” award during the preliminary competition this week. Aside from being beautiful and having an outstanding voice, Cameron caught the judges’ attention during the interview portion, which is considered the most difficult part of the pageant. When asked on what to do about the epidemic of teen obesity, she answered thoroughly without using any fillers like “Ummm…” and “You-know.”
