VIKINGS VS SAINTS PLAY-BY-PLAY (RECAP)
New Orleans Saints win 2010 NFC Championship! Saints is ready for their first-ever Super Bowl on February 7 after they defeated the Vikings 31-28 in overtime Sunday. There’s no boring moment in this game. Every minute is breath taking.
Saints (15-3) and Vikings (13-5) had a very close game. Vikings running back Adrian “A.D.” Peterson gives his team lead over Saints (7-0) on 19-yard touchdown Run at 9:35 minutes in the first quarter.
At 6:30, Saints quarterback Drew Brees connects with running back Pierre Thomas off a screen pass for a 38-yard touchdown to tie the score, 7-7. But the lead goes back to Vikings when wide receiver Sidney Rice scored. This was a 5-yard touchdown throw from quarterback Brett Favre putting the team on top, 14-7. Here’s the video:
Vikings had a great performance in the first quarter. They had all the momentum but Saints’ tight defense kept them scoreless in the second quarter. Brees threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Devery Henderson to tie the game 14-14 at 2 minutes left in the first half.
At the start of the third quarter, Thomas stretched for the end zone and scored a touchdown on a 9-yard TD run. It was his second touchdown that gave Saints a 21-14 lead over Vikings. At 7:35, Peterson runs in from 1-yard that ended the third quarter with a tie game, 21-21.
Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend and Saint’s running back Reggie Bush took a pass from Brees and scored a touchdown on 5-yard TD run at 1239 in the fourth quarter. Vikings safety Tyrell Johnson tried to stop Bush as what he did to Thomas in the third quarter but the ball was in the pylon. Saints regained the lead, 21-28. They almost smell the victory but Peterson sent their team in the overtime period by running for a 2 yard touchdown.

In the overtime period, kicker Garrett Hartley make history when he kicked a 40-yard field goal that lifted New Orleans to 31-28 win over Minnesota. Hartley’s winning field goal sends New Orleans to Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
